The Dispossessed Headboard

Category: comics

The Dispossessed Headboard was my first-ever kick at the 24 Hour Comics Day can, all the way back in 2010. It's quite old but it was the first time I felt I managed to take a bunch of real-world experiences/ideas and fuse them all into a relatively coherent (i.e. straightforward) narrative. The story was cobbled together from many personal experiences, things that were happening while drawing the comic, and other in-jokes.

  • Completed in under 21 hours between October 2 and 3, 2010 (elapsed time, without counting meals, sleeping, or travel home to finish the pages).
  • Total time, from sketching to erasing of all pencil lines on the final completed page was 31 hours.
  • I have no idea what possessed me to do each page in a different colour of Bic permanent marker at the time.
  • Final takeaway: sleep is a good thing.
  • Enjoy!
