The Second Evolution version of the Salvan PA where Rena asks Claude about his father. ========== (!) (...) (sweatdrop) (heart) etc. = the SO2 emoticons; (<) is the yellow alert/noticing things emoticon, and (;;;) is the nervous multiple sweatdrops as opposed to one big one. xD *these are actions ...* __________ *Claude finds Rena standing by the corner of a boarded house in south Salva* Claude: What's wrong, Rena? Rena: Oh, nothing. Just thinking about my father. Claude: I have to hand it to you, Rena. Losing your father must have been terrible, but you've been dealing with it so calmly ... Rena: Oh, not at all ... I cried all the time back when it happened. - What's your father like, Mr. Kenny? Claude: My father ...? *turns away* - He's a great man, respected by everyone who knows him. Rena: Wow ... I'm jealous. He sounds wonderful. You must be really proud of him, Mr. Kenny. Claude: *looks down* Yeah, he's brilliant ... Maybe too brilliant. Rena; (?) *screen fades to white as Claude recalls the moments before the landing on Milokeenia at the beginning of the game. He and his father are with the crew on board the Calnus* Helmsman: Admiral, we've entered orbit around planet Milokeenia. Ronyx: All right. Give me a surface scan. Operator: (<) This is an M-sized planet, breathable E-type atmosphere. Looks like it's got a lot of ore deposits, especially chromium. I'm detecting life forms, but no evidence of sentient life. Ronyx: The usual, then. Now add the data to our starmap. Operator: (!) Wait a minute, Admiral. There's a point on the surface that's turning up dark in the scan. *everyone turns to look at her* Officer: What do you mean? Ronyx: *walks over to inspect the findings on the scanner* There's an energy field present. But why would there be one here ...? (<) - Do we know anything about this field? Operator: Checking our database. Ronyx: No matches found ... (...) - All right. We'll have to land on Milokeenia and check it out ourselves. Get us down as quickly as possible! *walks back* - Ensign Kenny, I'm appointing you to the landing party. Claude: If I may, Admiral, my duty is to assist you at your command post, not to explore unknown planets. Ronyx: I'm going down to Milokeenia too, Ensigh. You're coming with me. Claude: (!) Admiral! What if something happens to you down on the surface? Ronyx: We're here to discover the unknown -- to unlock the secrets of the universe. Who could ask for anything more? I'm just ... I'm just an old man who's too decrepit for the battlefield. Are you trying to deny me the last bit of fun I can have in my life? Claude: (...) But sir ... Never mind. Understood, Admiral. Ronyx: *turns to his second in command* Kurtzman, you take the bridge. Kurtzman: Be careful down there, sir. Ronyx: Right. Let's get moving. *Members of the survey team exit. Ronyx exits with various other crew members following him out* Claude: (...) [If you speak to the remaining crew members] Operator (by the database): Admiral Kenny is waiting for you. Head for the transporter room at once. Helmsman: Perhaps the Lezonian forces are responsible for that field. Helmsman: The ship is currently orbiting the planet Milokeenia in Sector Gamma. Operator (by the scanner): I heard that Admiral Kenny is already 58 years old. It's unusual to see an officer at that age who hasn't retired yet. Officer: It's really hard to do anything to get noticed these days, what with the Lezonian forces keeping a low profile. Kurtzman: Whatever you do, make sure you protect Admiral Kenny. [Once Claude heads for the exit] Officer: So tell me, what logical reason is there for Claude to be in the landing party? Kurtzman: Beats me. Probably dear old dad trying to prop up his son's service record ... Officer: Bah! Too bad we all couldn't be the admiral's son, right? Kurtzman: Well, nothing we can really do about it. Even someone like Admiral Ronyx J. Kenny can't help but spoil the kid a little. *Claude turns to look back at the crew in the doorway as the screen fades to white, and back to present-day in Salva* Rena: (?) Is something wrong? Claude: (<) *turns around* N-no ... nothing. [If you speak to Rena again] Rena: You're acting strange, Mr. Kenny. Are you all right?
